Let Me start by saying the Rad family are huge fans of Phineas and Ferb. There isn’t a better cartoon on right now that you can enjoy as much as your kids. There are 53 episodes on the living room TiVo right now, seriously. Please Disney release all of the episodes on dvd.
Anyway, on our annual trek to San Diego for Comic-Con this year we made sure we hit the Phineas and Ferb panel on Sunday that included the creators and some of the voice talent from the show, it was great, the kids loved it. A few hours after the panel they held a screening for Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You the special airing next week. Needless to say the kids were thrilled and it became one of the highlights of the Con for them.
Airing: Monday August 2, 2010 on Disney XD
Plot: In an attempt to make the longest day ever, Phineas, Ferb and a group of friends set off on a trip around the world.
Review: The story is kicked off by a bet that Buford makes with Phineas that Phineas can’t make the longest day ever by traveling around the world. Candace is in charge so she goes along in an attempt to visit Jeremy who is on vacation in Paris.
The special was good, but not great. If you ask my kids they will tell you that is was unbelievably awesome, but I found it lacking compared to some of the more memorable episodes of the seiries. I think Buford steals the show, any scene with him was great, he definitely received the best lines.
It’s great for 4+ years-old. There was no violence in it. There was one kiss between Candace and Jeremy and a lot of talk of love between the two and even Isabella and Phineas (although Phineas was completely unaware of it). And there was a good message at the end as everyone joined forces to complete their globe-trotting adventure.
It gets 8 gitchee-gitchee-goos out of 10.

Happy 40th birthday to one of the hottest directors in Hollywood! From mind bending films like Memento and Inception, to his work on The Bat films Nolan’s mark on Hollywood has been legendary!

Screenrant.com is reporting that Disney is backing a new live-action version of Mulan, produced by Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi.
The Rad household is pretty excited over this news. My daughter loves the animated version, because it is the only princess-type film where the star is not rescued by a prince. She does all the rescuing.

Plot: In an attempt to steal the moon a super villain uses three orphaned girls as pawns who end up stealing his heart.
Review: Going in to this film I wasn’t expecting much. I expected just a silly movie that the kids would enjoy, but me, not so much.
I think the movie is great from start to finish. Steve Carell does a great job in the lead role as Gru the Dr. Evil clone. As did Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario. But the person that stole the show was definitely Jason Segal as the super villain Vector. He really worked magic with that character which I’m sure was already great on paper.

In a movie where almost all of the characters are evil, the filmmakers managed to craft a heart felt story that is truly a bright spot in this dark and disappointing movie-going season.
The film has all of the goofy gags that has the kids repeating them for days, but it also has a heart, and a great message that I hope sticks with them long after the quotes wear off.
Goofy? Yup. Silly? Check. Heart? Absolutely!

The Nickelodeon booth at Comic-Con handed out mini posters of this image and all it said was “The Next Incarnation…”. Now Screenrant is reporting that Nick has greenlit a new series with the working title of The Legend of Korra.
A female avatar? Sounds cool. The Rad family are huge fans of the original series, so we’re pretty excited about this news!

Cap, Thor, Hulk, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, all on stage together for the first time in the infamous Hall H at Comic Con! Awesome! Thanks to our friends at Collider for the pic!
